I wonder if the “smart gun” is the 21st-century’s equivalent of the Maxim Gun that Lord Kitchener deployed with such effectiveness to slaughter the dervishes at Omdurman in 1898. I always liked what Hilaire Belloc wrote about that battle:
Whatever happens,
We have got
The Maxim Gun,
And they have not.
