  • Remember the Louisiana Democrat who was found to have $90,000 stuffed in his freezer? He was found guilty on 11 of the 16 counts, and is facing 150 years in prison, for accepting hundreds of thousands of dollars in bribes over four years. Politicians caught accepting bribes should face hugely stiff penalties, as an example to other politicians who might be tempted. I think it's reasonable for him to spend much of the rest of his life in prison.

  1. I’m more concerned about real players like Senator Max Baucus, Chair of the Finance Committee, and ranking minority member Charles Grassley. They will be leading Health Care reform legislation and took nearly 24% of their campaign funds from the Insurance and Health Care lobby. That’s between $10 and $15 million each.

What kind of meaningful health care reform can we really expect with this kind of influence buying?
