Nate Silver asks conservatives to put their money where their mouth is, by placing money on the line as to whether the temperature where they live in the coming months will be warmer or colder than the historic average. No takers yet. With all of the bloggers claiming "it's chilly here today, therefore there's no such thing as climate change," I'd think they'd regard this as easy money.

This is a stupid bet, for many reasons highlighted in the comments of that post: Weather station bias where urbanization skews the “historical average”, climate change != universal warming, # of days too warm != # of degree-days too warm…
Though presumably anybody who lives in a place with a weather station in which urbanization isn’t a factor could accept that challenge without facing the problem of urban heat islands.
But, yes, you’re right, Tim—which I believe is Nate Silver’s point—that a day in which it’s chilly has absolutely nothing to do with climate change, and climate change is not the same as global warming.
