O’Bannon’s giving conflicting budget stories.

Del. John O’Bannon (R-Henrico) is taking credit for avoiding state budget cuts, cuts that were avoided because of stimulus money that he opposed. This sort of thing is commonly seen in elected officials, but generally congressmen. They vote against the spending to keep the interest groups happy, but they’re happy to hand out the oversized checks to keep the voters happy.

  1. O’Bannon (along with Janis) actually helped pass Warner’s tax reform by skipping a subcommittee meeting where they could have defeated it one day. Of course, he’ll always tell you he opposed it completely…

  2. You know, my problem isn’t with the way some of these representatives try and keep everyone happy. What bothers me is the obvious disdain he has for his constituents. He must think the people who vote for him are complete and utter morons who are incapable of understanding the causal relationship “if A then B.”
