Ignorance is strength.

The Cato Institute has put together a ten-page paper documenting newspeak on the part of the Bush administration. Orwellian language (“1984” famously featuring the phrases “War is peace,” “freedom is slavery,” and “ignorance is strength”) is found at every turn, ranging from The National Guard’s “Try One” program to “national security letters,” “asymmetrical warfare” to “freedom.” The White House has been lying with style for six years now, and it’s gotten bad enough that even Cato is calling them on it.
