House monoculture.

Every delegate has the exact same laptop. I’m sitting in the House Transportation committee meeting, where Secretary of Transportation Pierce Homer is being questioned by the committee members, and of the eighteen committee members here, nine have identical laptops propped up on the table in front of them. They look like 15″ Dells, but I’m not sure. I have to wonder — is there any rebellious delegate using a Mac?

  1. It’s difficult to use your own computer with the GA’s system – Mac or otherwise. They’ve got a bunch of stuff set up that Delegates wouldn’t want to opt out of just to use their own equi- closed loop IM, email, calendar syncing, etc.
