The Nation on Howell’s losing strategy for Kilgore.

In The Nation, Max Blumenthal looks back on the Hitler ad’s impact on the gubernatorial race:

[E]ven before national events descended on the Virginia gubernatorial race, the tried-and-true media tactics in the Republican arsenal proved to be duds. For decades the Republicans have perfected their negative game plan, but this particular race may begin to demonstrate its exhaustion.

This grudge match between Struble/Eichenbaum and Scott Howell has left Howell limping. It’ll take at least another high-profile loss or two to take Howell’s legs out from under him, though.

  1. thanks for this article Waldo. i understand that politics is a dirty business, but Howell absolutely disgust me. he might be good for winning elections, but he’s terrible for democracy. i think voters are getting wise to this tactic – Kilgore’s campaign truely was pathetic…
