David Toscano: He’ll try to do what the court has ordered him to do.

57th District House of Delegates candidate David Toscano takes a bold stance on the death penalty:

“We have made mistakes in the past and continue to make mistakes” by executing the innocent, he said. “And it is administered unfairly to different ethnic groups, so I oppose it.” Toscano said he would try as delegate to ensure that the death penalty not be given to mentally retarded individuals and believes most Virginians would agree with that.

How very daring of him to agree to “try” to abide by the Supreme Court’s recent prohibition of execution of the mentally retarded.

Here’s hoping he’ll also “try” to oppose slavery and “have a go” at giving women the vote.
