Circumnavigation.

I read “The Boy Who Sailed Around The World Alone” yesterday, the true story of 16-year-old Robin Lee Graham, who set off on a five-year voyage around the world in 1965. I can relate to the kid, only he, y’know, made it. It’s a great story — here’s an abbreviated version.

Reading that gave me the travel itch again.

  1. I read Graham’s account, Dove. What an amazing story. Left as a boy, came back as a married man (and a newly converted Christian, if I recall). I’d also recommend Tanya Aebi’s Maiden Voyage for another cool tale of young ‘uns sailing around the globe.

    You a sailor, Waldo?

Nope. I once sailed a Sunfish, but that’s about it. :) After reading Graham’s first book (and wanting to read “Dove”), I do feel like one, though. :)
