A reminder.

There are no “red states.” There are no “blue states.” Issues are not black and white any more than states are red and blue. The world is not that simple. People are more complex than that. There is nuance beyond the binary, nuance that includes millions of people.

I’m excising these phrases from my vocabulary.

  1. Politically, I am a Centrist Democrat. That means that I believe as
Abraham Lincoln did that “government should do for people what they can’t do for themselves”. I
believe as Eisenhower did that “Should any political party attempt to abolish social security,
unemployment insurance, and eliminate labor laws and farm programs, you would not hear of that
party again in our political history”.

The best, wisest, and most kind man I know, lives in Charlottesville. He is a Widower and very
successful in Real Estate. He is also a Centrist Repbulican. He believes as Bill Clinton did
that abortion should be “safe, legal, and rare”. He believes as Jimmy Carter does that the ideals
of “freedom, human rights, and justice for all” ARE universal and are the true cause of the
    fall of the Soviet Union.

We’re more alike than hypocrites, oligarchs, and Orwellian terms like “blue-state/red-state” can
say. The fractious idea of color-labeled states fails to honor the nobility of our American unity.
