Interview with Mark Batson.

I interviewed producer Mark Batson yesterday for nancies.org, and out popped a 2,500 word article about him. Here’s the teaser text from nancies.org:

Recently, nancies.org spoke with Mark Batson, producer of Dave Matthews Band’s forthcoming Stand Up, about his work with Dave Matthews Band, on topics ranging from his musical background to race, Glen Ballard to DMB’s future. As a producer best known for his work in hip-hop and R&B, the collaboration is an unusual one, though his background is far richer than a one-paragraph biography lets on. Can the band avoid a repeat of Everyday?

It turned out OK. My favorite interview thus far is my 2000 one with Peter Griesar. While Mark Batson I’ve only spoken to on the phone for a half hour or so, I’ve known Peter well for years. The moral of the story, as best I can tell, is that I shouldn’t write about people that I don’t know.
