Thar she blows.

The Virginia Tech Power Plant just let out a terrible rushing noise. I stuck my head out the window to see that it was shooting up a huge plume of steam, which rose through the cool air at an impressive rate. After perhaps sixty seconds it stopped as abruptly as it had started, and the steam cloud quickly rose up and out of view. I can only assume that it was some sort of emergency release of excess steam, in case production exceeds steam tunnel capacity.
