In the Albemarle County school board race, the extremely-competent Brian Wheeler is pitted against the unfortunate Linda McRaven for the at-large seat. It’s no secret around town that McRaven is loony — everybody’s known that for years. But, man, if this comment isn’t a hallmark of insanity, I don’t know what is:
“I have never had a teacher tell me…they’re underpaid.”
Seriously. She said that in a forum last night, as reported by the Daily Progress. I’m not making this up. I can only conclude that she knows no teachers, has never been to a school board meeting, and has never read the newspaper. Oh, and then there’s that alternate, far more likely conclusion: that she’s completely loony.
