When faced with a woman eleven weeks pregnant who would die—along with her child—if her pregnancy continued, the administrator of a Catholic hospital agreed that they would provide an abortion to save the life of the mother. She was permitted to do so under a church directive that permits such things. For doing so, the administrator—a nun—has been excommunicated. Raped a little boy? Good for you! Saved a woman's life? Get lost!

Well, shit. And I believed the guy. He accuses Lance Armstrong of doping, but now that we know Landis is a liar, I can't see why anybody should believe him.

BP insists that there is, at most, 5,000 barrels per day gushing out of their Gulf well and into the ocean. Independent experts place the number at closer to 100,000. Now BP claims to be siphoning 5,000 barrels out of the leak each day. So the leak is stopped now, right, BP?

In the past week, we've learned that 5CD Republican candidate Feda Morton has been married three times, a judge has barred her from custody of her children because she cannot control her rage, and she plagiarized a recent opinion piece she "wrote" for a local newspaper. That was Nigel Coleman's cue to endorse her. Because, after threatening Rep. Tom Perriello ("collateral damage"), he had to figure out how to make himself look like even more of an ass. Well played, Mr. Coleman.

Flickr's API turns out to be pretty great. Any data that you put in, you can get out again, only improved. I've worried about that with Flickr. If it goes belly-up, I want to be able to get my stuff out—photos, comments, tags, copyright assignations, etc. They're way ahead of me.

You know, however anyone individual feels about abortion, it really puts the Church’s absolute lunacy about the issue in perspective when you contrast it against the backdrop of their unwavering institutional tolerance of serial child rapists.
Floyd lied, yes, but so has most of the pro peloton in one way or another (note that Armstrong didn’t even directly deny the accusation). That said, I think I believe about 80-90% of the allegations in those emails (that we’ve seen). For a *very* smart take on the whole matter, I recommend this post from Adam Meyerson, who’s competed against Floyd before and after Floyd’s time in the top pro ranks.
That Russian idea of nuking it sounds better every day.
