Remember those foolish comments that Supreme Court justices made, showing that they know nothing about technology? The transcript of the oral arguments that's now available makes clear that most of those were taken out of context.

There was recently an interesting article published in Marie Claire (!) that received an award from the Overseas Press Club today, about the Mauritanian ideal of fat women, and the force-feeding of young girls to make them desirable to would-be husbands.

The technology that Belkin has just bought sounds very impressive. Monitoring home energy use is a pretty tricky proposition, assuming one wants data that's more fine-grained than total consumption by everything in the house at any one time. That this fellow has managed to infer per-device data by simply plugging into a wall jack is really amazing.

the home monitoring thing is awesome although I think smart grid folks are hot on it also.
Some day soon.. you’ll be able to sit down at your PC or probably your IPHONE or whatever and slice and dice the energy consumption in your home.
You’ll be to instantly ferret out that weasel Dracula device that’s been slinking around in the dark and put a stake in it’s gluttonous heart.
No longer will you have to rely on those bogus energy labels that manufacturers have apparently been gaming for some time .. isn’t the idea of gutting the govt wonderful? Just SAY that the govt is riding herd on those yellow stickers and let all the suckers out there actually make buying decisions on that belief.
I’m convinced that “green” means – understanding your energy usage and from that knowledge to make conscious choices.
Most folks WANT to conserve but they just don’t have an easy way to monitor and get to the root of the issue .
