“Come on, guys!”

Jim Gilmore would like everybody to understand that he really is running for president, seriously, and would like us to please pay attention to him. I, for one, think that Republicans should really and truly nominate Jim Gilmore. Then we Democrats are free to nominate, say, Dennis Kucinich and know that we could win in a walk, despite Gilmore’s inevitable promise to eliminate taxes entirely.

  1. If I had to choose between Jim Gilmore or Denns Kucinich, I’d have to write in Jim Webb. Or vote for a third party candidate. I’m not making the choice between an incompetent governor and a neocommunist christmas elf.

  2. I had a chance to hear Kucinich speak yesterday on C-Span and can finally understand why some people are taking him seriously. He definitely talks the talk.

Of course, perceptions are hard to reverse–especially without a lot of cash. However, I’m glad that we have his voice in the congress.

Gilmore, on the other hand . . .

  3. I love this quote from Gilmore when he was asked about Iraq:

“I honestly can’t tell you why we went into Iraq at this point. I think the president certainly had some positions he was taking.”

Wow – that’s exactly the kind of penetrating insight on the Iraq war that America needs. ‘The President had some positions he was taking.’ Brilliant. It all seems so clear to me now. Gilmore has me totally convinced that we need to stay in there and git ‘er done.

  4. Is he really just as far right as Kucinich is far left?

I don’t know enough about each man’s positions to know, but I do think that he’s even less likely to be elected than Kuncinch. And that’s really saying something.

  5. Some people are taking him seriously? Like 2% of the population? Please. I really, really, REALLY don’t like Kucinich.

  6. Speaking of Presidential runs, has anyone heard anything further on the draft Al Gore front? It would be very interesting to see what happened among the Democratic brass if he went up against Hillary for the nomination. Who would they support, and how would they choose?

  7. It would be fun if he ran, but I’m pretty sure he’s out saving the world from global warming, er, climate change. Sorry.

I would suspect the big money Dems would opt for Hillary over Gore. With Hillary, they get Bill’s political instincts. With Gore, they get Gore’s.
