Stark/Allen investigation will conclude post-election.

In an unlinkable story because their website is lame like that, NBC 29 reported this evening that Charlottesville police expect to finish up the case of Allen staffers attacking Mike Stark late next week-ish. Bummer.

  1. They’re probably hoping that “post election” there will be a lot less press on the subject. Plus if they announced charges against the Allen staffers on Monday – it would be 1) National News and 2)would definitely affect the election [although that effect could just as easily mean raising the ire of republicans enough to motivate them (further?) to get out and vote].

Generally the police don’t “shine” when there’s a national spotlight on them.

  2. There was a time when a news reporter would not merely read a PD Press Release, but would have called the Chief and asked him why assault charges had not been filed. You know, pursue the story. Guess it takes a freelancer, and former Marine to ask the tough questions. And they wonder why their audience is going away.
