LaCivita: Stark’s attackers were not employees.

Warren Fiske in the Virginian-Pilot: “Chris LaCivita, a senior political consultant for Allen, said none of the men who evicted Stark are employed by Allen’s campaign.” If, in fact, none of the men were Allen employees (or contractors, employees of contractors, or volunteers), the incident reflects less badly on the Allen campaign than were they actually employees. Still, Allen and his staff stood by and watched as three attendees assaulted and unlawfully evicted a fourth attendee? Is justice by mob rule acceptable?

  1. I’ve heard several people commenting on this very blog say that they recognized 2 of the attackers as specific Allen employees that they know for a fact to work for Allen. So somebody isn’t telling the truth here.

  2. I’ve been cautious to state that I’m not clear on whether these guys were employees or not, but the evidence certainly seemed to point that way until LaCivita’s statement. I have to wonder, though, if he’s parsing his words very carefully: perhaps they’re not employees, but contractors, or really dedicated volunteers, or employees of contractors.

  3. They don’t work for Allen. They are subcontractors and have the 1099 to prove it. It is all very clean. Welcome to outsourced thuggery! And when subcontractors engage in criminal behavior you WILL be abandoned by George Allen – ask one Hunter Pickels, former camera stalker and convicted trespasser in the City of Roanoke.
