This attention could be counterproductive. While he may no longer be recognized as holding the position he has been acknowledged with in the past, many people who have never heard of a scientist disagreeing with the theory of global warming may now have an opportunity to hear something different. Skepticism of global warming may very well increase.

A great many Americans labor under the impression that there is debate among climate researchers as to whether global climate change exists when, in fact, it’s Pat Michaels vs. everybody else. If any minds will be changed as a result of this, it will be people who were not previously aware that the lone voice in the wilderness is, in fact, a recorded advertisement for the coal industry.
