Bennett’s budget gaffe.

WP: Gov. Warner’s Finance Secretary John Bennett made a math error that left the state education budget out of whack by 4.5% and didn’t bother to tell the Kaine administration about it. Dude. That’s the kind of thing you really want to call up. It’s not like nobody’s going to notice. Shades of Gilmore.

  1. What are you talking about Waldo? It’s only $137 million dollars. It’s a drop in the bucket.

    What, me, sarcastic? Never.

Seriously though, that is definitely a big problem. I understand that human error occurs, and I will not hold simple error in a partisan way against these leading Democrats (certainly, Republicans have been guilty of that as well). But this is why such things usually get double checked. Fortunately, Fairfax school officials were ready to catch such a mistake. This proves that rushing is never the best option, even when limited by time constraints.
