SCOTUS reams Bush administration.

From the “Duh” department: SCOTUS (fresh with Bush’s new appointees) rules 5-3 that Guantanamo trials are illegal, pointing out that that Congress has specifically barred the president from conducting such trials, so there really can’t be any doubt in the matter. Check out the opinion (PDF).

  1. Of course Pres. Bush’s speech was just the cherry on top of everything…

    Simplifying the speech it to it’s essence he basically said, “Oh yeah? Well your ruling won’t mean anything for very long, I’ll just get a law passed that lets me do what I wanted to do in the first place.”

    It’s irritating to watch how he continues to think that the law doesn’t apply to him.
