  1. For years Virginians have only been able to speculate as to what it would be like to actually taste an intact locomotive which has been buried in a collapsed tunnel for 81 years. What does the compression brake of a train from 1925 taste like? What other preserved flavors are lurking in the caboose or even the coal cars? Every schoolboy in Virginia has daydreamed about these questions for generations.

At last, we have the opportunity of a lifetime. Locomotive 231 will be unearthed and displayed at the museum of the Virginia Historical Society where both children and adults from around the Commonwealth can come to savor the delicate flavors of this grand, historic relic.
