Faux GA visit tomorrow.

I had too much work to visit the General Assembly today, and this evening I’m feeling right rough. I fear I may be getting the stomach bug that’s been going around Charlottesville, though I’m not sure. The General Assembly bathrooms aren’t bad, but I’m not sure I like them enough to spend quality time getting face to face with one. I’m going to play it cautious and skip this week’s General Assembly visit this week.

I do, however, feel terribly guilty for doing so. I intend to compensate for this by writing several blog entries about the General Assembly tomorrow. Every week there’s at least a few pieces that just never make it to publication, due to a lack of time once I get home. I’ll finish some of those tomorrow. In particular, I want to impart upon people a sense of what it’s like to spend time at the GA as a total newbie, learn your way around, and observe the process. Clearly there’s a very low barrier to entry; even I can pull it off.

  1. Waldo,
Hope you’re feeling better. Don’t worry about missing today. At the rate they’re going, you will have many more weeks to visit this General Assembly session.

  2. Sorry you won’t be here, although I do hope you manage to avoid whatever bug is stalking you. Lots of fun to be had chasing down budget conferees… plus, I found another Mac user. That makes three of us.

  3. Oh, Lord, I hope I haven’t signed myself up to visit every week even during overtime. :)

Thanks, Bob. I’ve spent the last two hours on the couch watching Tivo’d King of the Hill episodes and learning how to use my new trick card deck. I could get use to this feeling-under-the-weather business. ;)

  4. I had it last Sunday right after Trish (my wife, Waldo’s sister-in-law) had it. The trick with this one seems to be to stop eating at all as soon as you think you’re showing the slightest symptoms. Trish tried to ignore it, ate dinner and wound up driving the big white bus all night. I just stopped eating entirely, took some amitrol, drank a lot of water and spent some quality time playing Snood. I got through it without tossing my cookies once. It seems to last around 36 hours.

It was the Snood that made the difference, I’m certain.

  5. I have May 22 in the pool (on the day we will actually adjourn), so don’t worry if you stay home today. There will be plenty of General Assembly fun (or not) in the weeks to come. Feel better.
