On acquiring Dave Matthews Band tickets.

I’ve gotten a lot of e-mail in the past few days, since it was announced that Dave Matthews Band will be performing in Charlottesville, from people curious about how to get tickets. Enough people have asked that I figure I should explain it here.

Your best shot is Ticketmaster’s website. Tickets for their summer tour go on sale on April 8, at 10am. The tickets for the two Charlottesville shows will all be gone within just a few minutes, maybe within 20-30 minutes.

So what you’ll need to do is practice ordering tickets from Ticketmaster. (Really.) A day or two before April 8, go to the site, pick out a couple of tickets to a Kenny Chesney show or something, and order them, being careful to cancel at the last moment. Repeat until you can do it pretty quickly.

Have that credit card out at 9:59am on the 8th, and start reloading obsessively until you see that link to order DMB tickets. Have at it. By 10:02am, if you’re good, you won’t just have tickets, you’ll have great tickets.

Good luck.

  1. I think you can set up an account with TM prior to ordering that is supposed to help speed along the process.

Of course, you can also check out Ebay on March 15. The Charlottesville Waldorf School is auctioning off two pairs of reserved seats, along with VIP passes, to any concert of the DMB Summer 2006 tour. Just think: great tickets, VIP passes, and you get to support a wonderful educational istitution instead of Ticketmaster!

  2. Too bad I didn’t get to go to a Waldorf school. I might have learned how to spell institution properly if I had… :-)

  3. Last year, I tried to get U2 tickets by searching for tickets simulataneously on many different windows/tabs/browsers.

That doesn’t work. Your search keeps getting cancelled, so even if you pull great seats, ticketmaster won’t let you complete your order.

So, search using one window only.

    And be on the phone.

And have your friends on the phone.

  4. Or just call up your friend who is a member of the warehouse and get him to get your tickets for you then to through the exhausting process of trying to trade your tickets on the boards for ones that are a little bit better all in the name of getting as close as humanly possible to the one and only Dave Matthews.

I swear… some of these Daveheads are insane!
