The Sorensen Institute blog was full of good news for alumni yesterday:
- Patrick Gottschalk (PLP ’00) appointed Secretary of Commerce and Trade.
- Bea McDougle (PLP ’03)’s husband, Ryan, elected to the 4th District Senate seat in a special election
- Chris Peace (PLP ’04) will run for McDougle’s now-vacated House of Delegates seat
- Doug Smith (PLP ’05 — my classmate) profiled in the Daily Press as “God’s lobbyist”
- Shannon Valentine (another classmate) and her race against Michael Harrington for Lynchburg’s Senate seat described as civil and polite
If it seems like Sorensen Institute alumni are quietly going about taking over Virginia, it’s because we are.
So, is there a secret handshake that one must know in order to get into the Sorenson Institute?
Nope. :) Just an application with some solid recommendations. Applications are due in December. You should go for it!
