USA Today had a version of this story last month (12/22/05).
It will be interesting to see how this turns out.
The facts of the case clearly pointed to Coleman as the culprit. The blood type and semen type matched Coleman’s type (shared by just 2/10th of one percent of the population), as determined by his own expert Dr. Ed Blake. The defense team tried to pin the blame for the rape and murder on a neighbor of victim Wanda McCoy.
Much to their dismay, said neighbor produced medical records showing he had a blood type OTHER than what was found at the scene. Said neighbor sued the defense lawyers for libel and they settled out of court in 1994.
The right man was arrested, convicted and executed for this crime. The continuing “question of innocence” only exists due to a miasma of misrepresentations by his supporters.
Well, good — then the DNA testing will confirm his guilt, and we can rest assured that a terrible mistake was not made.
The guy looks pretty guilty to me. But I can’t understand why anyone would ever be opposed to more DNA testing.
I agree with VA Justice. And Waldo. And ATA. Does that make me schizophrenic?
