Mystery meat vs. steak.

A good number of Republican blogs here in Virginia have made the same observation in the wake of the blows that Tim Kaine rained down upon Jerry Kilgore in the Tuesday debate: It doesn’t matter, because nobody was watching anyway.

Now, that may be true. But when your candidate’s best shot at winning is if nobody pays attention to him, you might have a problem.

I’ve been saying for months that the more that people see and hear Jerry Kilgore, the less likely that it is that he’ll win. But I never thought that so many Republicans would agree with me.

  1. There is another part to that saw, which is namely that Republicans do better when fewer people show up on election day. Rain or other minor deterrents are a blessing on election day for them.
