Good-guy Republican Emmett Hanger — who represents part of Albemarle County — has failed to make the cut to get on the ballot in his Lt. Gov. bid, the Richmond Times-Dispatch reports.
Hanger said Saturday that two batches of petitions — one coming from northern Virginia and the other from Hampton Roads — got held up in traffic because of accidents on Interstates 95 and 64 and arrived at the State Board of Elections just after Friday’s 5 p.m. deadline.

“This is a tough one to swallow,” Hanger said Saturday in a telephone interview from his home in Augusta County.
That’s a shame. But, after all, rules is rules.
He can always join Potts and run in the general election as an
independent!
