The political Hokey-Pokey.

The Hampton Roads Daily Press has a stinging editorial today that ought to leave both Lt. Governor Tim Kaine and Jerry Kilgore smarting.

Let’s see if we can get this right. Tim wants to be Jerry and Jerry wants to be Mark?

This has the makings of a very odd election year.

[…]

Take Tim Kaine, who’s unopposed for the Democratic nomination for governor. He holds, he says, a “faith-based opposition” to abortion and capital punishment, but will enforce the right to the one and the opportunity for the other, if elected.

[…]

The new Jerry Kilgore – hold onto your hat – recently told a group of Washington Post editors and reporters that, “I’m more like Mark Warner than Tim Kaine will ever be.”

What does that mean? Does that mean Kilgore now opposes the drive-it-over-a-cliff fiscal policies of former Gov. Jim Gilmore? Warner, after all, was elected, in part, as a reaction to Gilmore’s mishandling of the state budget.

This editorial makes nobody look good — save, perhaps, for Sen. Russ Potts.
