Gmail user.

Gmail ScreenshotLaura Thompson gave me a Gmail invite, so I signed up for an account yesterday. It’s nice. The keyboard shortcuts are great for a grizzled old Pine user like me. I’ve been sending myself test e-mails, trying to get Google ads to show up promoting the products that I’m mentioning in my e-mails, but, so far, I haven’t been able to get any ads to come up.

So, I’m jaquith at gmail dot com. I’m not sure of what I’ll use it for, but I don’t have a free mail account, just mail on my own server, so it’ll be a good backup, at a minimum.

I’m thinking about changing my address and this site URL. I’ve been waldo at waldo dot net for six years now, but I’m not fond of its redundancy. I’m also waldo at jaquith dot org, and I think that I’m going to make that my primary address, and gradually retire the old account by adding a spam penalty to any mail coming to that address. If I guard this new one closely enough, maybe I can keep the spammers away. I may change this site from waldo.net to waldo.jaquith.org, too. The theory for both changes is that if you can’t figure out how to spell my last name, I probably don’t need to be getting e-mail from you. Nothing personal. I just get too much e-mail.
