Google has filed for their IPO. They intend to raise $2,718,281,828. That might seem like a random number, but it occurred to me just now that it’s not. That’s e, a constant that is often represented to the ninth decimal: 2.718281828. It’s not just a constant, it’s the constant, arguably the single most important number in mathematics.
