$75 for a hit and run.

I went to the courthouse today and managed to get them to tell me what the fine was for the drunken jerk who hit me with his car. He was found guilty and fined on May 17th, but the court wouldn’t tell me what the fine was. Anyhow, I know now: $75. That’s it. A drunk driver piles into my car — $14k in damage on a $6k car, if I recall correctly — and speeds away, and he gets off by paying $75. Incredible.

I did the math, and I think that I could take up hit-and-runs as a hobby. I mean, it’s cheaper than a baseball game, or a trip to the amusement park. Just a thought.
