Mir burned up about three minutes ago. I just realized that I’m of a generation that takes for granted that we have a third-generation space station. First Skylab, then Mir, now Alpha. I guess we’re really getting into the space age now.

Spring has sprung Jonathan Richman.
It’s spring. Not only in the official sense, but in the weatherly sense. Yesterday was gloomy and depressing. (It doesn’t help that I’m still sick.) Today, the sky is a bright blue, happy little clouds are scudding across the sky, the flowers are in bloom, the trees are budding, the horses are foaling… Ah, such …
Sick.
I’ve got a cold. Amber brought me chicken noodle soup. I’m sick enough that I shouldn’t be at work, but I’m well enough that I’m just working from home. This is why I have a laptop, use IMAP and keep all of my machines on DSLs. I might be bleary-headed and generally narsty, but I’m …
I cannot get you tickets.
Please don’t take it personally, but I cannot get you tickets to the April 21st Dave Matthews Band concert. Yes, I know that they go on sale Friday, and I know that it will be difficult to get tickets. I am familiar with the fact that they haven’t played here in half a decade, and …
Alive everyday.
The song “Everyday” on DMB‘s new album (also titled "Everyday") reminds me that I’m alive. I don’t honestly know what that means, but it does. That’s all.
Good pain.
The fronts of my thighs really hurt, like I’ve just hiked a 25-mile day, or biked for a whole afternoon, remembering to pull up hard to really work the thighs. Or like when I spent that whole week rollerblading around Paris last spring. What’s lame is that they actually hurt because I spent a good …
Realtime worm filtering system.
I wrote a piece for Advogato on how to filter out Outlook worms (Love Letter, Melissa, etc.), real-time, on a MTA level. It’s a pretty crude system, but I think that it could really be quite effective. If you’re at all technically-inclined, please consider reading this and letting me know what you think.
Amateur sleuth.
I spent some time at the city and county courthouses today. Looks like the owner of the car that hit me has quite a rap sheet. Breaking and entering, grand larceny, disorderly conduct, driving with a suspended license, driving without a license, reckless driving, assault and battery, damage to private property, driving without a registration… …
Ow.
I don’t know at one point my complaints spiral downward into mere bitching; I suspect this might be it. I was told by my doctor that I would hurt worse a few days after the accident. That’s turned out to be true. My jaw is all creaky. I guess it’s pretty badly misaligned (I’ve got …
New glasses.
I got some new glasses last night. They’re more than I was ever aware that one could spend for glasses, short of encrusting them with jewels, but my glasses place was just so convincing. They’re Calvin Klein frames (I eschew name-brands in general, but they just look so nice) with these super-light lenses that keep …
