Remember "Curveball," the (code-named) guy who was the sole source of US intelligence that Iraq had WMDs? He admits now that he made all of that up, providing no evidence whatsoever, because he didn't like Saddam Hussein. He says that the government figured out he was making it all up by around mid-2000, but the White House decided to pretend it was true, anyway, as a basis for war. After Colin Powell's speech, Curveball was ordered to keep his mouth shut, and put in confinement for three months.
