  1. It’s funny, I was wondering if there was anything like that MAPfrappe. I like it.

    Here’s a small thought:

The blue line is the Downtown Mall (including the little bit next to the ice park up to Water St.). It’s overlaying the Normandy American Cemetery and Memorial.

That is a lot of area that’s covered in graves. It helps put things in perspective for those of us who will never make it to Normandy.

  2. Michael: Man, the nuclear reactor! That was so cool. I got to visit it before it was closed down — that was the first and so far only time I’ve gotten to see Cherenkov radiation firsthand.

  3. Michael: Bing’s obliques are great. I don’t know of another site that offers anything like it. Even state and county GIS departments don’t have the stuff they have. Bings aerials basically suck and are extremely outdated, but those obliques are great.

Semi-on topic, I noticed Google came through again last year and updated their street view in my area. I wonder how often they plan on doing that?

  4. Holy cow Bing has obliques. So awesome. I’ve used Google Map’s satellite view and street view to get a feel for areas I’m about to go to for the first time, and it can be fairly effective, but obliques make it so much easier to get a feel for the landscape.

  5. Bing maps, in general, are pretty awesome. Check out the TED talk it got this year. If the features talked about there expand to most cities? I’ll sign on for a tiny bit of the borg.
