I recently learned about Russia's series of Venusian probes, which was news to me. So what other missions to other plans have there been? Turns out, a lot…although, disappointingly, nearly all have been to Venus and Mars.

This is on my agenda for this summer. The internet is filled with linkspam about chicken coop building, oddly, so I'm glad to find this quickie guide.

This Laurence Verga racism story has gone national. What a jackass.

that’s not totally true, we sent something to land/crash in the big red dot on Jupiter:

Hey, I remember that! I see now that it’s listed on that Wikipedia entry, but under “other bodies”…below Eros, the asteroid, which isn’t a very dignified placement for it. :)
BTW, I’ve updated that link to say “nearly all,” rather than “all,” about visits to Venus and Mars.
Waldo, my pastor builds and sells a thing he calls an Egg Cart’n that you might be interested in–it’s what’s known as a chicken tractor. Since you seem interested in building one, if nothing else, you might just want to ape his design.
Well, now I’m kind of torn between a traditional coop and a chicken tractor. A benefit of a traditional coop is that I could attach it to a garden shed, making for easier egg collection, and meaning that I just need to build one structure. But chicken tractors seem pretty great, what with being able to move them around the property.
Maybe one of each. :)
When the urban pioneers of Harrisonburg were clucking about this backyard chicken thing last year, they were proudly displaying a fully-kitted chicken tractor that included roosting boxes that were accessed from the outside. Have your tractor, and your nest eggs too. I’m sure if you doodle around you can find the design that gets it all.
If there are ever chicken tractor races down your way, I’d like an invite. Thanks.
