Back in 856, the Dunhuang Bureau of Etiquette put together a form letter for local officials to use to apologize to dinner hosts for getting rip-roaring drunk the prior night.

Passing that form letter on to my classmates here in China this week.
No real reason. No, of course not… ;-)
I still find a lot of that list too overwhelmingly “masculine,” although it does contain some good advice.
To tie these two topics together, I would add:
“If you get rip-roaring drunk correctly, there is no need to apologize.”
