Local food forum Tuesday night.

I’m hosting this month’s Left of Center meeting. The topic is local food. The speakers are Colin Steele & Lynsie Watkins, of Perfect Flavor, and Gail Hobbes-Paige, of Caromont Farm. It’s at Maya, Tuesday, 5:30pm – 7:00pm. For more information see the LoC website. Come on down.

  1. How’d this go?

My wife and I really wanted to attend, but we’ve both been down hard with Influenzavirus A (despite having gotten flu shots!) since Saturday night. Blah.

  2. It went great, Jeff — the room was full to capacity, with about a third (half?) of attendees standing. Our speakers all had informative, compelling narratives about the legal and practical obstacles to running a family farm in Virginia, and it was a bummer to have to cut off a good discussion in full swing come 7pm.

Terrible news about the flu! Having been through the same thing last year, I know how incredibly frustrating it can be to get flu despite the flu shot. Perhaps we can all consider this our warning to wash our hands often in the weeks ahead. I hope y’all feel better soon.
