Good old-fashioned American manufacturing.

Wooden toy makers are doing a brisk business this year. Who thought we’d ever see a resurgence in American manufacturing? Making things out of wood, at that? It’s just great to read about this.

  1. My 10 month old baby had a lead test 2 weeks ago and it came back with a 4.5. Anything over a 3 is potentially trouble. Our pediatrician told us to throw out any and all painted toys made in China. And if it doesn’t say where it was made, assume it’s China and toss it.

We have a whole pile of such toys that he was given for Christmas. All of them are still in the plastic. Some can be returned and some can not. Those which can not be returned will simply be thrown away. What else can you do with them? We can’t give them to anyone else.

I want a Presidential candidate who will crack down on this. We need a new trade policy with China that bans the import of most toys. I want a President who will finally stand up and protect this country and get this dangerous Chinese crap off the shelves.

  2. Jack- We Americans listen to the news and point a finger at the Chinese manufacturers that put these products on our shelves, but many Americans have three fingers pointing back! Most people with any type of investment account can probably dig through the blend of companies in their respective funds and find at least one company that is building profit based on the low quality products they import from China. The same rings true for the “anti-Wal-Mart establishment” and the people who are so vocal about sending jobs overseas.

  3. For shoppers frustrated with imports and looking in vain for American-made alternatives, try the products and companies listed on StillMadeinUSA.com. The fingers point back to us consumers I think.
