Poll: Americans reject the Republican Party.

As President Bush squandered the global outpouring of affection for the United States into an unprecedented hatred for us, so, too, has the president sunk the Republican Party. The Pew Research Center has found that 50% of the public self-identifies as Democrats, while just 35% are willing to admit that they’re Republicans. The abandoning of conservative ideals under President Bush — debit is wealth, up is down, black is white — and his failure to locate a successor has left the party morally and politically adrift. 1. From the article:

“This is the beginning of a Democratic opportunity,” said Rep. Rahm Emanuel, D-Ill., chairman of the House Democratic Caucus. “The question is whether we blow it or not.”

That’s absolutely correct. And right now I am of the opinion that they will probably blow it. I don’t think the democrats have a lock on things just yet. But the republicans gave them a good opportunity.
