    I decided spring was officially here when I saw a red-winged blackbird at my feeder, and another two in the trees at the airport.

  2. Ha! Waldo, I clicked on this link thinking it had something to do with religion. Our (Episcopal)Female Presiding Bishop got so much attention recently that I thought someone had made another breakthrough for women….though I thought the Catholics were the only ones with “Cardinals”. Sure piqued my curiousity.

    But your female cardinal sure is beautiful. And regal, even without vestments or robes….

  3. I see them on my feeder (which is still in operation despite the moderate weather). If you look closely at the various subtle colors in the wings of the female cardinals, they are every bit as pleasing as the gaudier males. In the sunlight, even the starlings are scintillatingly beautiful (if only there weren’t so damned many of them – their unpopularity is a matter of economics, not aesthetics).
