Sen. John Chichester is retiring. He’s one of the good old-fashioned regular Republicans that populate the state senate, not of the flat-earth mold of many House Republicans. As with the retirement of Sen. Russ Potts, it’s hard to imagine that this will result in anything other than a farther-right senate, which is fine, because that’s the path to Republicans losing their majority.

I am the Prince of Chichester.
I wish it were fine, and a Democratic Senate would be a wonderful thing, but a Democratic takeover due to right-wing BS only means years more suffering for the Commonwealth.
Oh, you’re right, it’s definitely not sunshine and roses along the way.
Will the new Virginia Republican candidate swear an oath to Grover Norquist – a “mean-spirited, humorless, dishonest little creep”, or as Speaker Howell calls him, “my friend”?

Oh, go read that link, folks. A nice little 10 year WayBack machine. “Newt Gingrich, as close to a Mother Teresa as conservatism has [ . . . ]”!
