Cape Hatteras flotsam.

Flotsam and jetsam.

We visited the tip of Cape Hatteras this afternoon, where a great spit of sand splits the sound from the Atlantic. Waves come in from either side at the terminus, colliding at 45° angles every few seconds. Dozens of trucks were lined up at the surf’s edge, their fishermen trying to coax dinner from the waters. The selection of seashells was impressive, as was the enormous, teeming tidal pool bisecting the sandy point.
