Warner wins in name-blind presidential poll.

Zogby ran a blind poll of presidential candidates, showing nameless resumes to participants. Gov. Warner won among Democrats. Among Republicans, Sen. Allen barely registered — he came in eighth, the man of choice for a whopping 4.9% of Republicans. Allen’s star has fallen; Warner’s is just rising.

  1. I took one of that kind of zogby poll several months ago. It seemed to me that anyone who was paying attention knew who each person was. But since I am a political junkie and I teach HS government, I am probably not a good measure of how true that is

  2. We’ll see how it turns out, but I’m not expecting this poll to be accurate either. It is very inconsistent with the candidates for each party in the last couple elections, with Democrats running liberal candidates and Republicans running George Bush, who admittedly shares a number of the same values as George Allen.

  3. If only voters would make their choices based on a candidate’s actual qualifications (or lack thereof), rather than on their perception of a candidate’s qualifications, which is often skewed based on who ran the best campaign.

  4. Tancredo came in 4th for Republicans.

About Tancredo, poll participants were told: “Candidate J is a four-term Congressman from a swing state in the Midwest. Candidate J is best known of being an outspoken critic of illegal immigration. He has also been highly critical of the Bush administration’s guest worker plan. Before coming to Congress, Candidate J was a Department of Education official under Reagan and George H.W. Bush and was president of a conservative think tank.”

They left out the part about him being batshit insane. I don’t think this is a very good poll!
