Terry’s piece hit me like a splash of cold water.
I initially became a Webb supporter because he so strongly represents the politics of ideas and people. That the Webb blogsphere could have left truth for politics, could have left ideas for a “cult of personality” is a gruesome reminder of what can happen in an acrimonious primary. I hope I’ve done something to describe the potential of a Webb candidacy and why he’s the best standard bearer for DPV this fall. I hope I’ve explored the ideas and the potential of this race for Democrats in Virginia and Nationwide. Others will have to judge that. Nonetheless, this has been a rough few months and I’ll be happy when the dust settles on Wednesday, regardless of the outcome.
