Mystery vote reversal.

Chad Dotson and I were just in House Room D watching the votes come in for judicial appointments. Most votes were unanimous, as indicated by the tally at the bottom of the video feed from the chambers. But as the votes came in, over the course of a few seconds, some had several “nay” votes, which were quickly reversed to “yea” votes, leading to a unanimous vote.

Can anybody explain what’s going on here? Why are people changing their votes? Is it an indication of protest? Mistakes? An attempt at humor?

  1. I have heard of vote switching by the Chair, even reversing majority decisions with a slight of the vote count. I am fascinated that you witnessed it. Let me know if you get a better theory than my conspiracy.
