Charlottesville food blogs.

There are now no less than three Charlottesville blogs about food, I have realized. First, there was Eric’s World of Food (though Eric and his wife, Bella [also a blogger] are moving out west, so soon they won’t count), followed by Brian Geiger’s The Food Geek, and then, most recently, Darlene and Chris’ “Eat Air – A Vegan Food Log”. Joe often blogs about food over at Book of Joe, too. There’s definitely a gastronomic tilt to the Charlottesville blogosphere. Last I checked, Charlottesville has the second most restaurants per capita in the nation — it’s nice that this is represented on-line, too.

I like to cook, and I like even more to eat, and I have to admit that I’m inspired by what I’ve been reading on these sites. I tend to stick to your basic western fare, but they’ve got me branching out. In the past few weeks, I’ve refined my basic recipe for Thai stir fry, and tonight I’m taking my first shot at Pakistani cuisine, Chicken Makhani. It’s simmering now, and smells great.

Food blogging is not likely in my future, but reading food blogs is definitely a habit that I’ll continue to cultivate. I look forward to seeing what Eric, Brian, Darlene and Chris recommend cooking, and particularly look forward to enjoying the results.

  1. Thanks for the mention! With all the prep for moving across the country, no recent entries. I’m excited to see the recipe for Butter Chicken. I had never heard of it until I dined at a Pakistani place in London earlier this year and it was divine. Hope yours came out well.
