RB Smith tribute at Gravity Lounge.

On Thursday night, Charlottesville’s Gravity Lounge will be hosting a tribute to R.B. Smith, who died quite suddenly last November. Amazing guy that he was, the musical lineup is accordingly fantastic. The press release from the group putting this together is below.

RB Smith Tribute and Gravity-Lounge Benefit Concert

Details: RB was a tireless advocate and promoter of the Gravity as a musicianfriendly establishment. In addition to paying tribute to RB’s efforts to support the local artists of Charlottesville, the evening will raise funds to help keep the Gravity’s community mission and supportive atmosphere intact.

Join us for an amazing evening of appearances and musical tribute from some of RB’s dear artist friends: Terri Allard, Brady Earnhart, Devon Sproule, Paul Curreri, Jan Smith, Danny Schmidt, Keith Morris, Tom Proutt, Emily McCormick, Stevie Jay, Donna Hamilton, Carol McAvoy, Michael Cvetanovich, Greg Allan, Lance Brenner, Ralph Rush, George Riser, Adam Smith, Jeff Romano, Browning Porter, Peter Markush, Ann Obrien, Bud Branch, Mariah Smith, Stratton Salidis, Gary Green, Richelle Claiborne, RW & Sherri Smith, Justin Wolf, Gary Lyon, John D’earth, Marybeth Green, Jack Boyland, Joan Fenton, Blue O’Connell, and more.

The evening will be coupled with the CD release of “In the Sweet By & By,” a full album of lyrics from our beloved RB and his partner RW Smith. With RB’s wife Fran’s blessing, all profits from the sale of the CD that night will go to the Gravity because that is what R.B. would have wanted.

I’ll be there.

  1. Ha. I remember when my band played Gravity Lounge last year. Disaster. It was right after it opened up, and we were a classic rock cover band – not exactly the type of thing that they usually feature.
