Bob Gibson on local House races.

In today’s Daily Progress, Bob Gibson mentions something interesting:

Locally, Albemarle School Board member Stephen H. Koleszar, a Scottsville District Democrat, apparently plans to announce a formal challenge to Del. Rob Bell, R-Albemarle County, on Wednesday.

I’m just glad somebody is challenging Bell. I’d say the same thing if Bell were a Democrat — candidates, particular sophomore candidates, have got to be challenged. He wasn’t challenged after his freshman term. We can’t wait another two years.

Gibson also writes about the 57th, providing the following candidacy update:

[David] Toscano jumped in first and may, or may not, be followed by University of Virginia professors Jeffrey Rossman and Peter L. Sheras, former party Chairman William B. Harvey, former city councilor Meredith Richards and former council hopeful Waldo Jaquith, a liberal-progressive blogger whose age, 26, was that attained by Thomas Jefferson when he first took a House seat from Albemarle in Richmond.

Nice.

He said it, not me.

History buffs will note that, it was, in fact, a House seat, but the House of Burgesses, not the House of Delegates, which did not exist in 1768.

  1. Waldo,
Now that the 57th District nomination for the Democrats is set for a June 14 primary, are you more or less likely to join the fray? I’d love to know your thoughts about the process and a candidacy. Thanks.
