Today’s Roanoke Times has a sad and fascinating story about Virginia Tech biologist Sue Daniels. It seems that she was killed by a fellow activist, Niklan Jones-Lezama, in a murder-suicide on November 18th. She sounds like a really interesting woman — she lived on a farm without electricity in Giles County, for example — who died at the hands of an abusive ex/stalker. It’s remarkable that a woman as self-sufficient, self-aware, and intelligent as her could allow herself to fall into an abusive relationship that would ultimately kill her.
